Magnetek, Inc. honored as a Wisconsin Climate Leader by the Wisconsin Sierra Club
The Sierra Club’s Power2Change campaign awards businesses, schools and groups for investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency
Menomonee Falls, Wis. – May 13, 2008 – Magnetek was awarded a Climate Protection Award by representatives from the Sierra Club. The award highlights area leaders and their commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
“Magnetek is honored to receive this award,” said Mark Haug, director of Alternative Energy for Magnetek. “As a local manufacturer and distributor of wind and solar inverter products, we are dedicated to saving energy and reducing carbon dioxide emissions in everything we do, every day.”
The honorees receiving awards at the April 17 press conference also included Kohl’s Dept. Stores, Amaranth Bakery and Café, The Urban Ecology Center, Sunnyslope Gardens, Milwaukee Education Center, Alterra Coffee, Cooper School, Murphy Family Home, University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Campus & Student Government Association and Community Car.
The Power2Change campaign is a grassroots effort by the Sierra Club to document and publicize examples of clean energy sites throughout the country.
“The choices we make in 2008 will define our future,” said Chris Honecker, Sierra Club representative. “We have the technology, know-how, and the power to build a clean energy future. We are very proud to honor these leaders who have taken the step to invest in a clean energy future.”
Magnetek manufactures digital power and motion control systems used in material-handling, people-moving and energy delivery. In addition to wind power conversion, the company offers power converters for commercial photovoltaic and fuel cell installations. The company also distributes a line of commercial and residential wind and photovoltaic inverters. Headquartered in Menomonee Falls, Wis., in the greater Milwaukee area, Magnetek operates manufacturing plants in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, as well as Menomonee Falls. For its fiscal year ended July 1, 2007, Magnetek’s revenues were $103.8 million.
